Varrlyn, a Dutch consultancy specializing in technological transformations of dealing rooms, has added Anand Vardhan to his team. The Vardhan appointed as Principal Consultant will occupy himself with Murex projects at banks in his new role.
Anand Vardhan is a senior consultant with a focus on technology, regulation and risk. During his professional career spanning more than a decade, he has worked for major financial institutions, including consumer and investment banks, asset managers, pension funds and insurers – providing services in areas such as consultancy, business analysis, project management, quality control and testing. After working for three years in Mumbai, India, for a software company, Vardhan, born in India, moved to a major technology service provider in 2008.
When he was here for three years, he moved to the Netherlands to support ABN AMRO – one of the largest IT specialist clients – in the context of a consultancy assignment. Vardhan was active for more than four years for the Dutch large bank, at a time when the bank underwent a major change in its technological infrastructure. During this period he contributed to the design, development and implementation of various Murex solutions.
Vardan has delivered several projects for various large organizations, including Genworth Financials, Deutsche Bank, Equens and the asset management branches of APG and Aegon. At payment processor Equens and Aegon Asset Management, a provider of asset management services, Vardhan assumed the role of Murex advisor, while he joined Deutsche Bank as Test Analyst and at APG in the role of Business Analyst was responsible for the validation of EMIR Level 2 requirements. With all these clients Vardhan has gained a lot of experience in both the front and the back office and in (European) buy and sell-side environments. He worked with the trading applications Murex and Summit on functional areas such as interest rate, fx cash, fx options, money markets, raw materials and fixed income.
As of November 1, Vardhan has joined Varrlyn, a consultancy firm based in Amsterdam that assists financial service providers in managing technologies in their dealing room. With this he returns to familiar territory: in 2014 and 2015 he has been working for the boutique consultancy for about one and a half years. In explanation of his new challenge, Vardhan – who obtained a bachelor’s degree from the Indian Vellore Institute of Technology – is pleased to be able to work with Varrlyn again while the office further increases its Murex footprint. Vardhan immediately started working as Front Office Business Analyst at one of Varrlyns bank customers, where he is working on further improving the front office of the bank.
Martin Defauwes, director and one of the three founders of Varrlyn, says about the appointment: “Anand is an experienced consultant with a strong focus on banking and capital markets. He has extensive expertise in trading applications such as Murex, in the roles of designer, configurator, analyst, tester and project manager for both ‘greenfield’ and existing complex implementations on the trading floor. “
