On Tuesday, June 20, the annual Compliance & Risk Congress will take place in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, where the main players from the risk & compliance domain will meet to gain new insights and share knowledge. Philip van den Emster, Partner at consultancy firm Varrlyn, will provide a roundtable on Agile: Continuous Delivery.
While the financial sector is still working on restoring confidence and the reputational damage it has sustained as a result of the credit crisis, innovations such as Blockchain, FinTech and InsurTech are creating new challenges in the field. But what are the consequences of these developments for the Risk & Compliance domain? And how can regulators still adequately supervise this fast-changing world, where laws and regulations are continuously being overtaken by developments?
The Compliance & Risk Congress wants to give answers to these and more questions, an annual conference that brings together all major players from the field, from disruptors to compliance and risk experts and supervisors. The 2017 edition of the congress will take place on 20 June in the Media Plaza of the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, and offers visitors an excellent opportunity to gain extra insight through the experience and expertise of professionals in the industry.
Like every year, the congress has an extensive program full of keynote presentations, round table discussions and other sessions with different subjects. For example, keynote presentations on Solvency II, digital transformations and Innovation & Supervision are planned this year, panel discussions are held on disruption, risks and compliance and there are various sessions on, among others: cybersecurity, robotic process automation (RPA), Blockchain, Mobile & PSD2, or for example the role of social media in risk management and compliance. In addition to all sessions, a networking drink will also take place. Chairman of the conference this year is Jort Kelder.
At the Compliance & Risk conference every year various organizations commit as a partner *, including players from the consulting industry. Varrlyn, a niche consultancy firm that offers dealroom and project-related services within the Financial Services domain, has also joined the conference this year. The agency will host a round table session on Agile & Continuous Delivery during the congress.
This session will be provided by Varrlyn Partner Philip van den Emster, who has been active as a senior business analyst and project manager within the financial sector for over ten years. Van den Emster is currently working on several vendor application related projects at an international bank. Before that, he successfully implemented implementation, integration and migration projects within the financial markets.
Round-table: Agile: Continuous Delivery
Van den Emster, together with Varrlyn Consultant Cherien van Ampt, will take the visitors into the world of Agile and Continuous Delivery within the dealing room. Van den Emster: “It is now evident that these are much more than fleeting buzz words. For organizations such as Spotify, Netflix and Google, this is even the basis of their success. ”
He adds: “We give a glimpse behind the scenes of our clients, a prominent Dutch bank, which quickly won a leading role in financial services in the Netherlands in this area. This organization realized that it had to be able to respond much faster to changes in the market and has since three years changed the rudder drastically and introduced the Agile way of working organization-wide. We show how this approach positively shakes up the dealing room. Continuous Delivery is here to stay! ”
